Porcelain Fusion
on Canvas

Belinha Silva invented a unique and original mixed-media technique — her signature creation, known as “Porcelain Fusion on Canvas” — a process that unites two distinct materials, porcelain and canvas, in a completely new artistic language found nowhere else in the world.

The creative process begins with painting the entire canvas in acrylic, establishing the emotional and visual foundation of the composition. Then, using pure white porcelain, Belinha shapes the main subjects: she breaks, draws, paints, and repeatedly fires each fragment at temperatures between 740°C and 1000°C. Once completed, she carefully reassembles the fragments — like a puzzle — to form characters and symbolic elements, which she then adheres to the painted canvas.

This innovative and fragmented approach transforms porcelain into a living element of the painting, giving it a new contemporary identity while preserving its delicate beauty. Through this personal invention, Belinha not only modernizes porcelain art but also establishes herself as the pioneer and sole creator of this one-of-a-kind technique.
